More traditional than avant-garde, generally bemused by much contemporary art. I try to be open-minded, but maybe I need to try harder(?).

Interest in taste in music: Avid classical music enthusiast, mostly Bach to Dvorak (that's speaking chronologically, not alphabetically), all genres but especially chamber music. Also some jazz, American Songbook, rock/pop I grew up listening to.

Older: "The Third Man," "Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner," "Army of Shadows," "Best Years of Our Lives," some Bogart and Chaplin

Interest in travel/favorite places: Places of cultural and historical interest, also natural beauty, love to sample great food, after I overdose on museums and churches I like to roam cities and observe daily life and streetscapes. Paris (bien sur), Venice, Florence, Berlin, have also been to Asia, have seen a great deal of the U.S. in non-tourist fashion in extensive (sometimes exhuasting, though not exhaustive) travels as a political activist in earlier days

Hobbies & pastimes: Read almost incessantly, classical music, foreign and independent film, frequent museum attendee. Like to eat and drink (moderately but well), always trying to add to my list of great, reasonably-prices, usually out of the way restaurants. Run two miles in nearby park several mornings a week. Definitely don't need to be constantly "entertained" or "amused" in a formal or elaborate way, instead usually find conversation of a bright and interesting companion pleasure enough -- though good food and wine magnify it.

Still maintain those commitments, both through my law practice and otherwise. Many avid intellectual, cultural and worldly interests. Attractive, fit, moderately athletic on a good day. Decidedly non-materialistic but not immune to style. Very dry and active wit.

What disturbs you most about today's society?: Government policies seemly deliberately designed to destroy the American middle class. The mindless chase after megawealth (can't anyone be happy with mere prosperity?) Government policies seemly deliberately designed to "dumb down" the American population and thus make them more ignorant and easily manipulated to act against their own interests. An increasingly rude, coarse, graceless society. A lack of respect for their elders in the young

Currently studying to get my professional certification in photography and digital imaging. I hope to begin a successful second career as a professional photographer. I am intelligent and well educated (three Masters degrees). I am a warm, caring, empathetic gentleman. I respect women and know how to treat a lady with all proper respect and regard. Polite, interesting, I have a dry wit with a sometimes sharp edge. I make an effort to eat a healthy, balanced diet and get regular exercise. I have three pedigree cats (they are good boys).

Someone who is not naive to the harshness of reality nor disillusioned to the point of having given up on doing something meaningful.

I should say I'm pleased that there are many people out there who are exceptions to those overall negative trends, and live and act with integrity and good sense. I have always loved acting, ever since I was little; I specialize in character roles and love taking annual classes in stage combat (particularly swordsmanship!). I like to express myself in writing, and I live in Forest Hills and love it because I've always enjoyed the quiet areas of the city rather than the noisy, more populated parts, understandable since I grew up in Manhattan's upper East Side (which could be very crowded and noisy, especially around parade times!). I enjoy traveling (my favorite city is London) and have been to some rather unusual lands, including spending Halloween(my favorite holiday!) in Ireland and Transylvania (in Dracula's Castle no less!). I am an avid collector, and I have a large collection of films, books, records and tapes.
