Favorite books: This is a real toughie. My reading spans both fiction and nonfiction which includes cultural studies. In fiction I favor contemporary literature, but still read the classics.

Favorite authors: Updike, Killldera, George Eliot, Conrad, Henry James, Richard Russo etc.

Favorite periodical & newspapers New Yorker (30+ yrs.!), NYR Books, Wilson Quarterly, Atlantic Monthly.

Interest & taste in the arts: Music: jazz & classical. Painting: modern abstract.

communication skills and a lively intelligence.

Additional comments about yourself: I try to balance the indoors with the outdoors and
accordingly enjoy being outside hiking, bicycling, kayaking, walking.
