Interest and taste in films/favorites: I'm not a real filmgoer, and most of my favorite movies are classics that I watched as a child: Marx Brothers movies, Spencer Tracy/Katherine Hepburn movies, and anything with Cary Grant, Greer Garson, Humphrey Bogart, or Audrey Hepburn. Favorite all-time movies: Giant, High Noon, and Little Women
Interest in travel/favorite places: I have family and friends in Ireland and the Netherlands, so I travel to those two destinations regularly and have explored some of the other European countries. I would really love to visit Asia sometime.
Hobbies & pastimes: Reading, walking
Religion and interest in religion: Rediscovering my Catholic roots.
Things you would still like to accomplish in your life time: Generally speaking, I would like to continune to learn more about the world and things in general and would like an easy-going partner who is interested in doing the same.
What changes in recent society please you the most?: The increasing diversity of races and cultures in society has been the most pleasing thing for me to witness in my lifetime. It enriches our country and makes us stronger.
What disturbs you most about today's society?: I find disheartening the current mean-spiritedness and intolerance that pervade American politics and religion today. There is a close-mindedness among many in our society and in our current political leadership that keeps our society from advancing.
Most important characteristics in a date or mate: The most important characteristic in a mate would be someone who respects me, my ideas, and the life I have made for myself. I would especially value someone who is kind and trustworthy and who does not take himself too seriously. I also believe it is important that people retain a certain curiosity and interest in the world and what goes on in it. I believe it is this curiosity and passion about things, which can manifest itself in many ways (such as a hobby or an interest in science or current events), that keeps people young at heart and in spirit as they age. I am looking for a low-maintenance sort of fellow who would add some more meaning and energy to my life, as opposed to a high-maintenance person who would leave me feeling rather depleted of energy.
Write a short sketch about yourself: I am a shy, laid-back woman with a pretty good sense of humor who enjoys quiet pursuits and having conversations on a wide-range of topics. Once I get to know someone, I am very talkative. I think I am generally a curious person who is interested in a wide-range of things. I am also a rather sensitive soul, and I would like to meet someone who would be sensitive to my needs and able to express his own needs to me.
